Free hypnosis and self hypnosis downloads are available from a number of sources, and can provide you with a taste of what is possible with this incredible natural magic!
I do recommend, however, that in order to maximize the benefits of your hypnosis experience, you consider learning about hypnosis in general and acquire some skills in its application.
To get you started, here are several sample scripts, all of which are well worth trying.
FREE INTRODUCTION TO SIMPLE HYPNOSIS
(3 scripts)
1. First, test your susceptibility for hypnosis (either tape or get someone to read this out to you):
"Extend your arms out in front of you at shoulder height, with your fists lightly clenched. Close your eyes.
Imagine there is a weight on your right wrist, making the arm feel heavier and heavier.
Imagine on your left wrist there is a gas-filled balloon lifting the arm higher and higher.
In a few moments your right arm will begin to feel heavier and heavier, and as it does, it will sink lower and lower. At the same time, your left arm will begin to feel lighter and lighter and will begin to float up higher and higher. (Pause here for a few seconds)
Your right arm is getting heavier and heavier and its sinking lower and lower. Your left arm is getting lighter and lighter and is floating up higher and higher."
Now, stay in that position and open your eyes. Notice the difference between the level of your arms! |
2. Now try the eye-closure technique!
“Get comfortable in a seated position, close your eyes and take several deep breaths, breathing all the way in and all the way out. Now focus on your eyelids. Imagine they are totally relaxed, so relaxed in fact that you couldn’t open them even if you wanted to. Now test them to see if they will open, but at the same time hold onto that total relaxation you have in them. Make sure they won’t work by raising you eyebrows as high as possible to test yourself that you really have relaxed your eyelids to the point where they just won’t open. You know of course that you could open them if you really wanted to but to do so you would have to give up that total relaxation you feel. Now, still holding onto that feeling, let the relaxation slowly sweep down through your body, right down to the tips of your toes.
Notice how good it feels, to be totally relaxed and yet still in control and aware of your surroundings. Now with each breath you take, let that relaxation become deeper and deeper…”
At this stage, if the above has been followed carefully, you can program the subconscious mind by giving yourself suggestions. Simple hypnosis! |
Note: It is possible to shorten this method even further on subsequent occasions and make the hypnosis even simpler by including the suggestion that with each future session you will gain this feeling of total relaxation more and more rapidly.
3. Meditative Hypnosis (MH)
(A GREAT WAY TO UNWIND AT THE END OF THE DAY!)
This is a unique technique which combines meditation and self hypnosis into one seamless unit. Now of course meditation and self hypnosis are very effective techniques in their own right. However, when combined in the form of MH, their individual powers are compounded.
In particular, MH offers the following advantages:
1. Deeper than usual hypnotic relaxation.
2. Increased ability to give yourself suggestions that your subconscious will accept as gospel.
3. Excellent results every time.
How do you do it?
The method is simple but fairly specific:
- Find a quiet location, concentrate your attention fully on a spot on the wall(or anywhere else!) and continue to do so until your eyelids feel heavy. (Takes about 1 or 2 mins)
- Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let that relaxed feeling now in your eyelids slowly flow down your face, down your body and right down to your toes. Continue breathing deeply for 30 seconds or so.
- Now begin repeating a mantra. Any two-syllable word (or pretend-word) will do. A simple example could be just the word ‘RELAX’. Repeat your mantra silently to yourself as you breathe in, and again as you breathe out. Concentrate only on your mantra. If any other thought comes into your head just let the thought pass and then go back to focusing on your mantra.
- Continue saying your mantra until you feel completely relaxed and peaceful. (Take about 10-12 mins here)
- Now start giving yourself simple, pre-determined suggestions with regard to areas of improvement in your life you would like. For example: ‘I am happy, healthy, fit and strong”, or ‘Every day I am getting more and more confident’. etc. Make your suggestions positive and use present tense.(Take about 2 or 3 mins)
- Go back to your mantra and continue repeating it, just as before, once as you breathe in and once as you breathe out. (Take about 4-5 mins)
- Now count down slowly from ten to zero, with the intention of gradually coming back to a state of being wide-awake, relaxed and refreshed by the time you reach zero.

That’s it! Obviously it will take a few practice sessions before you totally get the hang of the process, but it does work (even the first time!) and the more you use it, (once a day is recommended), the better the results.
Initially you may find your mind does tend to wander a bit, usually to events of the day, especially when repeating your mantra. Don't get concerned about this however, as it is a perfectly natural stage in the relaxation of your mind.
Just allow any diversionary thoughts to gradually pass and then gently steer your mind back to your mantra.
Regular practice is the key. The process can be likened to finding your way through a maze. The first few times through are not easy and you may feel like giving up. If you stick at it though, each time you try, it gets easier and easier to reach your goal.
Don’t worry too much about the time allocation I’ve indicated either. You will find that the whole process will flow quite easily after regular practice.
A typical MH session should take about 20-25 mins, but exact time is unimportant. |
