SELF HYPNOSIS

Self hypnosis is a completely safe, natural cognitive process. It can be very helpful in improving your health by relieving stress and anxiety and can improve sports and study skills as well as giving your self-confidence a significant boost.hypnotic suggestion

Are self hypnosis and hypnosis really the same thing? Yes! When you visit a hypnotist, you actually hypnotize yourself! The hypnotist is merely a guide who provides a simple and easy way to the state known as hypnosis.

Before attempting self hypnosis it is important to have an understanding of the nature of the state you are about to enter. Hypnosis is only a state of super-relaxation. When hypnotized, you are still very much awake and aware of noises and sounds. You most certainly do not become unconscious nor do you fall asleep! You are fully aware of your surroundings, know exactly where you are and what you are doing and your sense of hearing is actually enhanced.

To learn self hypnosis you could approach a professional hypnotist who could then give you a post-hypnotic suggestion such as "In the future, you will be able to take yourself back into this state of deep relaxation by..." etc. You can also learn self hypnosis much more easily and efficiently by listening to pre-recorded CDs/MP3s. Some excellent examples include...

INSTANT HYPNOSIS

Hypnosis can take place in as little as 30 seconds, but obviously to be able to achieve this very rapid trance state you need to follow a fairly precise method and get in a lot of practice. The method usually involves the technique o
f eye-closure.

A good starting point would be to try it out on youself every day for a couple of weeks. Once you personally are getting the feel for how instant hypnosis can be achieved, you will be ready to try it out on others. Five Seconds to Anaesthesia!
Ever had a migraine?  An ordinary, garden-variety headache maybe?  A painful experience at the dentist?  Maybe you’ve had muscle pain or neck pain? Ever had any pain at all?
Everyone at some stage or other has suffered pain of some kind or other, but the real question is how you dealt with it at the time. Most people reach for the aspirin jar or remain stoic about the pain and hope it will pass fairly soon.
There is a better way, but it does take a bit of practice.

Why is it better?
*Because it does not require you to take any drugs.
*It’s free.
*It gives immediate relief and the method is simple.

As mentioned, it does take a bit of practice, but if you’re prepared to put a little time and effort into it initially, it will work for you.
YOU CAN BE PAIN-FREE IN 5 SECONDS!! (I kid you not!)
OK, what’s the way?
The way is the way of hypnosis. But, its not just any old hypnosis, this is instant hypnosis  - 5 seconds flat is all it takes! (once you’ve fully learned and practised the method)
Here’s what you do…

First you need a suitable keyword. I suggest the word ‘FREEDOM’, mainly because that is what you want to feel!
Say ‘FREEDOM’ to yourself and then close your eyes. Now apply the eye-closure technique I have described elsewhere on this site at FREE HYPNOSIS.
Now, when you are positive you have eye-closure, say the word FREEDOM again to yourself and know that the very moment you say it, any auto-suggestion you now make will have complete and instant effect.
Now give yourself a pre-determined suggestion you want to be effected. For example, “My head is now cool and relaxed.” Or maybe,if you're at the dentist, “My teeth and gums are now completely numb.” Of course, ensure your suggestion is positive in nature.
Now release your eye muscles by saying FREEDOM again and open your eyes.
That’s it!
Try it, practise it, use it.  Five seconds is all it should take once you are competent with the method.
When you’re really starting to get a handle on the technique, your session would go something like the following:
1. Say “FREEDOM.”
2. Close eyes.
3. Test for eye-closure.
4. Say “FREEDOM.”
5. Give suggestion.
6. Say “FREEDOM," and open your eyes.
NB  -This method is directly attributable to David Elman, master hypnotist and hypnotherapist of international repute. Simple hypnosis, but it works!

Correct Hypnotic Suggestioninstant hypnosis
Getting hypnotized or hypnotizing yourself is not difficult. The tricky part is correctly structuring the suggestions that follow. If you are trying to remedy some problem that you or someone else has, and you don’t make the correct suggestions, then you can not only fail to improve things but you can actually make the situation worse!
In the case of self-hypnosis, most people figure they already know what they want to suggest to themselves, “I’m not going to have another cigarette,” “I’m not going to feel afraid when I speak publicly,” etc.
Suggestions in this form are only dooming you to failure! Why?

The first thing you must be aware of is that suggestions must only be positive in nature. No negative words should be used at all. For example, if you are trying self-hypnosis and you want to overcome a weight problem, then don’t use suggestions like, “ I’m not going to eat pies anymore,” or “I’m not going to eat junk food from now on.” Instead, use suggestions like, “I really enjoy eating healthy food now,” I can see myself slim and attractive and totally enjoying life.”

The second important thing is to only use the present tense. You have to use language that creates an image of it happening right here and now! When you fail to use the present tense, your suggestions only become intentions and will never become reality. However, common sense must prevail in some situations. For example, if you have a broken ankle, you would need to say something like, “Every day my ankle is getting stronger and stronger as healing is rapidly taking place,” rather than saying “My ankle is now totally healed,” which of course it is not! You can, however, make suggestions in the present tense that refer to specific events in the future. For example, a marathoner who wants to break 2 hours 30 mins for a specific marathon could use suggestions like, “I can see myself now, on June 1st, crossing the finish line, still feeling strong and relaxed and looking up and seeing my time on the clock as 2 hours 29 mins.”

The third thing to take account of is that you must be specific in your suggestions.
Concentrate on one area at a time. When you have a number of different goals you want to work on, you firstly need to rank them. Oddly enough, the next thing to do is to select one of your lower ranked goals and make this your first priority. The reason for this is so you can experience success early on, which in turn enables your confidence to grow so you can then tackle your bigger goals successfully.

Next you need to be detailed. Break down your desired behaviour or performance into a series of things you want to feel or experience. For example, a person who wants to overcome his fear of flying is not going achieve this if he just comes up with the suggestion,” I see myself sitting in a plane enjoying the flight.” He will need to introduce much more detail if his suggestions are to be effective. “I see myself quietly sitting in the departure lounge looking forward to my flight. I hear the boarding call and confidently board the plane and settle into my seat, totally relaxed and comfortable….” is the sort of detail you need.

Lastly, you need to create some sort of symbol. By this I mean a word or phrase that will represent all of your suggestions. For example, if your program of suggestions is designed to remedy a fear of public speaking, your symbol could be “relaxed self-confidence.” To use the symbol, you first introduce it at the start of your suggestion program, “Relaxed self-confidence is my symbol for the following suggestions..” and then reintroduce it at the end of your program.

Hypnotic Muscle Augmentation
What! You’ve got to be kidding!
NO! Everyone has a certain amount of ’slack’ in their muscle configuration and this can be taken up through the application of hypnosis. For example, increases of 2 to 5cm have been well-documented in the case of hypnotic breast augmentation. However, by using the same technique, any specific muscle of the body can be increased in size too.
The key is the power of imagination. Let’s suppose you want to increase the size of your arm biceps. Firstly, you will need to be hypnotized and taught how to practice self hypnosis, preferably with the help of CDs or MP3s. The emphasis, of course, will be on your biceps. You will be encouraged, by direct suggestion, to see yourself as you would like to be and, simultaneously, to experience feelings of heaviness and warmth in your biceps. The body reacts to these suggestions and over a one to three month period your biceps will slowly enlarge. To speed the process up, attach emotion to your visualization. See yourself as getting tremendous enjoyment and pleasure as you feel your muscles grow day by day.
Remember the Rules of the Mind? Let’s recap:
Rule1: Every thought you have causes a physical reaction.
Rule 2: Whatever you expect you tend to get.
Rule 6: An emotionally induced symptom tends to cause organic change if it persists.
Your results are predictable and perfectly achievable. All it takes is simple hypnosis!
