Weight loss is a very broad topic. There are many reasons for people being overweight and there are many ways of helping them lose weight. There are lots of people offering to help you, and lots of those people wanting to take your hard-earned cash. Some of these people are ethical and well-intended. Some are not.
For example, there seems to be an almost never-ending number of ads on TV these days promoting ab machines that will give you a lean, sculpted body in next to no time. These ads invariably show filmstars or other exceedingly well-proportioned people demonstrating a product and smiling, smiling, as they carry out the exercise.
"Lose 20lbs in 20 days!" "Convert your body into a fat-burning machine!" "Get six-pack abs in just 5 minutes of exercise a day!"
are typical accompanying claims. Quick and easy weight loss with minimal effort is the message, but not exactly the promise, that is if you take the time to read the fine-print!
If weight loss was really that easy, obesity would never be a problem!
Another apparently important feature of such fitness equipment these days is that "It will easily fold away to store under your bed!" Right... put it under your bed and there it's likely to stay, never to see the light of day again is the message you should get from this!
As we all are aware, the main reason a person is overweight is that they consume more energy than they expend. However, we also all know that just eating less and/or exercising more is not going to necessarily solve all problems of obesity. If you are currently overweight, you have probably tried at least one diet and exercise program. Some of these programs seem to work fine, for a while, and then you find that you lapse back to your former weight, or, worse still, put on even more weight than before.
There are usually many other reasons why a person is overweight and the person concerned really needs to find out what that or those reasons are before any real progress towards a permanent solution can be made. This can be achieved through the various ‘psycho-’ modalities: (******therapy, ******analysis, etc) Then, of course, there is Hypnosis. Because this is a site dedicated to hypnosis, it’s a fair bet that I’m going to say that hypnosis is your best option! Correct!
As noted elsewhere in this site, any procedure beginning with the prefix psycho- is possibly going to be successful, eventually. ‘Eventually’ can be interpreted here as meaning more than likely a long time from now.
Hypnosis, on the other hand, is not always likely to give an instantaneous solution either, but it is likely to be a whole lot quicker, especially if dispensed by a competent hypnotherapist.
Such a person will not just hypnotize you and give you suggestions of the type, “You will eat less from now on,” or, “Junk food is no longer attractive to you,” or , “You will exercise like a demon from now on,” etc.
Instead, he/she will use hypnosis to determine exactly what has caused, and what is continuing to cause, your problem with obesity, and then, by a series of hypnotic inductions plus direct suggestion, will attempt to correct your problem. The whole procedure will usually take at least 3 or 4 sessions and the chances of it curing your obesity problem for good are excellent.
Simple overweight of 5 to 10 kilos may be successfully treated by direct suggestion, but if a person is 30 or 40 kilos overweight, hypnoanalysis is probably required.
In either case, there are a number of details that a hypnotherapist will want to know. For example:
Do you simply eat too much of everything?
Do you tend to eat certain kinds of fattening foods?
Do you eat a large meal at night?
Do you snack between meals?
Do you eat more when under stress?
Why do you want to lose weight?
Do you eat too fast?
Do you eat in restaurants a lot?
What are your drinking habits?
How much exercise do you get?
Knowing the answers to these questions will guide you or your hypnotherapist in formulating specific, positive suggestions to deal with your specific issues.
It is interesting to recall here, Rule 3, of Rules of the Mind: “Your imagination is infinitely more powerful than your knowledge (or will power).” This is particularly relevant in weight loss therapy.
If you say you want to lose weight, but can’t do it, then your will power is in conflict with your imagination. You need to get your imagination to work for you, not against you. For example, you could visualize high calorific foods as representing nothing but pure fat – a bowl of straight fat, and imagine how disgusting that would taste! Get your imagination and will working in tandem and the power of both will be multiplied!
As mentioned, there are many products and sites promising weight loss, but take a close look at hypnosis – it could well provide the solution you are seeking.
